9.4 Rare and protected
plant species
There are numerous
records of rare and protected plant species from within the
study area. Rare plants that occur in designated conservation
areas are listed in Table 9.2. Other rare plant sites with
recent records (post-1950) and specific locations are listed
in Table 9.3. In addition to these, the Dúchas database contains
another 43 records of rare plants that may occur within the
study area. However, as these records are old (mostly pre-1900)
and the locations of the sites are vague (given as 10km squares
only), they have not been included in this report.
