The Government
indicated a strategy for development of the national transport network
in the National Development Plan, published in November 1999.
Included in
that plan was a proposal to construct a road, to dual carriageway
/ motorway standard, linking Dublin to Waterford. A subsequent study,
undertaken by the National Roads Authority, concluded that this
new link would be constructed along the Central Corridor serving
counties Kildare,
Carlow, Laois,
Kilkenny and adjacent counties.
This site will
chart the progress of this project throughout its development.
