Phase 2 Waterford to Knocktopher
Main Works – Design & Build Contract
Commencement of Project and Establishment of Project Site Office
The approved Contractor Ascon Limited has commenced on site since January 2007 and has established a Project Site Office at New Ross Road, Mullinavat , Co. Kilkenny Phone No. 051 – 898044. Contact person is Mr Tadgh Lucey of Ascon Limited
Appointment of Project Engineer by Local Authority Kilkenny Kilkenny County Council has appointed a Project Engineer Construction Mr Pat Graham - Phone No. 051 – 898044 (who is also based at the Project Site Office ) to liaise with affected property owners , landowners and the general public.
Appointment of Contractor
On the recommendation of Kilkenny County Council, Ascon Limited , Kill, Co Kildare have been approved by the National Roads Authority to undertake the Main Works Contract for Phase 2 of this Road Scheme. The Contract for Phase 2 will tie – in with the N25 Waterford By-pass PPP Scheme (which is currently in course of construction by the Celtic Roads Group, Waterford) at the existing N9 in Dunkitt, County Kilkenny and will proceed north to include 23.5 km of new high quality dual carriageway road to a tie-in with the R699 Regional Road to the west of the existing N10 in Knocktopher , County Kilkenny. The Scheme will also include 2 grade separated junctions at Mullinavat on the Regional Road R704 and Knocktopher (R699) including dumbbell roundabout at-grade junctions and realignment of the existing R704 and R699 Regional Roads through the respective junctions. In addition, the project will provide realignment of various single carriageway local roads and farm accesses at various locations.
